Book Review: A BEAUTIFUL OOPS!
One of the books that has made such a positive impact on Tala’s attitude towards making mistakes is this beautiful book called A BEAUTIFUL OOPS! by Barney Saltzberg.
The pages are filled with colorful illustrations. Some even have lift-the-flaps and pop-ups. The text is short, rhyming and fun. The main idea is that every mistake is an opportunity to create something beautiful!
Ever since reading this book, Tala would make a heart, a star, a fish or any figure out of a mistake she’d make when writing or drawing. When she accidentally draws a misplaced dot or line and can’t erase it because she’s using her Sharpie, she would say something like, “It’s okay, I’ll just make it a beautiful oooops!” And she would!
Note for parent-teachers:
We can identify here the character quality of CREATIVITY – defined “as approaching a need, a task, or an idea from a new perspective.” (Definition came from Achieving True Success, How to Build Character as a Family–a must-have book for all homes!)
